Restaurant Manager

This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic professional to join MIST as the manager of MIST restaurant and bar. MIST is a multifaceted venue consisting of The Café at MIST, The Bar at MIST, The Terrace at MIST, The Restaurant at MIST and three of the most technologically advanced theater studios in New York City. 

My Image Studios (MIST) was created to provide experiential event/ dining experiences that educates, entertains and enriches the lives of the community residents. MIST will provide a creative spin that connects culture, small businesses and access to healthy dining. Moreover, we will transform the food experience for the conscientious consumer in an integrated, sophisticated setting.

Job SUMMARY 

Plays a significant role in maximizing financial performance and attracting patrons by understanding the local market and partnering with the culinary leadership to effectively position MIST Restaurant and Bar.  Supervises daily restaurant operations and assists with menu planning, maintains sanitation standards and assists servers and hosts on the floor during peak meal periods. Strives to continually improve guest and employee satisfaction. Determines training needed to accomplish goals, then implements plan.

Qualifications

 Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED; 5 years’ experience in the food and beverage, culinary, or related professional area.

OR

• 2-year degree from an accredited university in Food Service Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major; 2 years’ experience in the food and beverage, culinary, or related professional area.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

  1. Supervises and manages employees. 
  2. Assists servers and hosts on the floor during meal periods and high demand times. 
  3. Understands employee positions well enough to perform duties in employees' absence. 
  4. Maintains and monitors all collateral, menus and guest touch points such that all are pristine and free of tears, stains and noticeable wear and tear. 
  5. Monitors compliance with all food & beverage policies, standards and procedures, including food handling and sanitation standards. 
  6. Maintains service and sanitation standards in restaurant, bar/lounge and room service areas. 
  7. Conducts daily "taste panels" to educate, drive sales and create sales goals. 
  8. Monitors appropriateness of ambiance/atmosphere (e.g., lighting, music, table-top, etc.) restaurant concept, positioning, time of day, etc. 
  9. Understands financial opportunities by surveying restaurant demand. 
  10. Serves as the primary point of contact for restaurant events. 
  11. Partners with key individuals in the local community to assess opportunities. 
  12. Identifies and analyzes competitors. 
  13. Applies sound revenue management strategies to secure the right level of business at the most optimal time to yield maximum revenues. 
  14. Oversees the restaurant marketing plan in partnership with the General Manager/ Operations Manager or Executive Chef. 
  15. Supports on-site/off-site public relations opportunities to promote the restaurant. 
  16. Participates in local networking activities, which are often off-property, in support of the restaurant.

Waitstaff

This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic professional to join MIST as a member of our waitstaff team. MIST is a multifaceted venue consisting of The Café at MIST, The Bar at MIST, The Terrace at MIST, The Restaurant at MIST and three of the most technologically advanced theater studios in New York City.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for providing exceptional customer service in Mist’s multifaceted facilities to include but not limited to service of food and alcohol, review of menu offerings, communication with kitchen regarding guest selections and any allergies/special requests, presentation of check and process of payment.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 2 years’ experience or college student enrolled in a Culinary or Restaurant certification program/ Associate Degree or similar.    

Core Activities

  1. Serve food courses and alcoholic beverages to guests. 
  2. Set tables according to type of event and service standards.
  3. Answer questions on menu selections. 
  4. Communicate with the kitchen regarding menu questions, the length of wait, recook orders, and product availability. 
  5. Communicate additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to the kitchen. 
  6. Record transaction in POS system at time of order. Check in with guests to ensure satisfaction with each food course and/or beverages.
  7. Pick-up trays and clean tables as needed to ensure a clean dining area. 
  8. Maintain cleanliness of work areas, china, glass, etc., throughout the day. 
  9. Complete closing duties, including restocking items, turning off lights, etc. 
  10. Present physical and accurate check to guest and process payment.

Lead Line Cook

Lead line cook with at least 4 years experience needed. Be a part of the new culinary team at MIST Harlem. We are a unique restaurant and event center with many opportunities for advancement. Only apply if you have sous aspirations. Pay based on experience. Ensuring safe and sanitary working conditions, the ideal candidate will have the following: 4 year Culinary experience in a reputable restaurant; Strong knowledge of cooking techniques and knife handling; Clear written and verbal communication skills; Able to work in a team environment; Basic knowledge of math and computation skills; Capability to stand for prolonged periods of time; Lift up to 50 pounds of weight; Ability to work in an environment where there are hot and cold conditions. Job Schedule: Full-Time
