Last Night @ The Daughters of the Dust Special Screening

04 Mar Last Night @ The Daughters of the Dust Special Screening

Last night, we had the pleasure of screening Julie Dash’s first feature length film - Daughters of the Dust (1991).  Lets just say: it was the throwback film that we all need to see.  Ms. Dash’s talents granted Madiba Harlem a building packed with substantial energy from a diverse crowd.  Daughters of the Dust tells the story of the preparation of migration to the North from three generations of Gullah women from St. Helena Island in 1902.  It was impossible not to gain brilliant insight from this film.
