Silicon Harlem Debate 2016
/The first ever tech and innovation debate created by Silicon Harlem happened here at MIST. The debate featured candidates for U.S. Representative for the NY 13th Congressional District which included: Clyde Williams, Suzan Johnson, Adam Clayton Powell IV, Keith LT Wright, Guillermo Linares, Adriano Espaillatt, and Mike Gallagher. Congressman Charlie Rangel and Manhattan Borough President Gale A. Brewer also stopped by to show support.
The debate, moderated by MSNBC's Richard Lui, required the candidates to answer questions and discuss topics on technology, embracing it, and utilizing it as best as possible for residents in the city and state of New York. Additional questions were asked by guest moderators Jamil Hill of MTV News, Carrie Sheffield of Bold, and Izzy Ortega of Opportunity Lives. Using Microsoft Pulse, guests were able to respond to poll questions, and whether they agree or disagree with the candidates responses. Overall, it was a historical night!
