We have chosen to partner with Intelligentsia Roasters as our coffee purveyor for their strong ethical business practices and devotion to providing the best quality beans. After much research into fine roasting companies available, we have found Intelligentsia’s diligent attention to the farms and growers they work hands-on with to be in line with our own beliefs. Intelligentsia goes beyond international Fair Trade standards, working 365 days a year around the globe with their sources, paying above average prices to farmers and ensuring that their inspections are not only focused on the high quality of the product, but also the environmental impact, addressing issues of herbicides, pesticides, disposal of waste water and maintenance of forest cover.

Founded by Doug Zell (ranked #1 most influential coffee person on Food Republic) and Emily Mange in 1995, Intelligentsia is regarded to be among the top roasters in the nation, making best-of lists both locally and nationally. They were the first roasters in the nation to create their own direct trade program with their growers and are also responsible for the vigorous and intensive training of their baristas, leading to numerous national and international barista championships.
